This 1890’s red silk dress was designed for Nora by Sara Ryung Clement for South Coast Repertory’s April, 2017 production of Lucas Hnath’s “A Doll’s House, Part 2”.
Red silk crepe was the perfect hand for this dress. It’s plain bodice with large puffed upper sleeves and slim lower sleeves gave a wonderful silhouette. The skirt moved beautifully with box pleats at the waist in back and finished in a train. Sara then chose 20 faceted jet buttons for me to sew down the back to add a bit of sparkle.

The collar does not close in this photo due to the dress form’s neck being larger than the actor’s.
